Uncertainty is growing around two astronauts who fear they will not be able to return to Earth due to a technical failure on the Starliner, the spacecraft that took them into space. Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore are likely to return by the end of this month.
The return of the Boeing Starliner spacecraft from the International Space Station (ISS), scheduled for June 26, has been delayed again, NASA announced. This new delay will allow more time to examine the propellant and helium leak issues that caused the first delay.
The first manned Starliner mission to the ISS - with two astronauts on board - was supposed to last about eight days, but has now been extended to an unspecified date. "NASA and Boeing authorities are fine-tuning the ship's return to Earth," the US space agency said.
The ship lifted off from Florida on June 5 and NASA selected two crew members who are not only experts but also veterans. Together they have accumulated more than 500 missions in orbit, which was the main reason for assigning them to this mission.

Butch Wilmore was born in 1962 and is a veteran astronaut of two space flights. In his career, he has accumulated 178 days in space, more than 8,000 flight hours, and 663 carrier landings. He trained at the United States Navy Test Pilot School (USNTPS), Wilmore.
Barry Wilmore joined NASA in 2000 and was honored several times by the same entity and the US Army. Among these awards are the NASA Distinguished Service Medal, two NASA Space Flight Medals, and two Navy Merit Medals.
Why astronauts can't return to Earth?
NASA announced that astronaut Suni Williams, like Butch Wilmore , will not return to Earth before June 26, due to a series of problems on board.
